On 16th September – As every year, since 1994, the "International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer" is celebrated. An international event proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly to commemorate the date in which the Montreal Protocol was signed in 1987, on substances that deplete the ozone layer, inviting States to promote a series of activities at national level aimed at defeating the natural enemies of ozone (nitrogen, chlorine ...)

The Montreal protocol has not only revealed the chemicals guilty of thinning the ozone layer - the layer that covers the earth from the sun rays - but has also established deadlines for the interruption of their production and their consumption. Since 1987, the preservation of the ozone layer has represented a real mission that all the inhabitants of the earth should have.
