HISTORY - World Environment Day (WED) is an international day proclaimed on June 5th, 1972 by the United Nations General Assembly. Over its 45-year history WED has increasingly become an opportunity to talk about environmental issues, from pollution to overpopulation, from global warming to endangered species.
Each year’s Environment Day is organized around a theme: this year, the theme is "Connecting People with Nature". The host country changes every year: for 2017 it is Canada. Italy was the host two years ago; but the country is playing an important role this year, too, because the Environment meeting of the G7 is to be held in Bologna on 11 and 12 June.
FSI GROUP IN ACTION - The FSI Group took this opportunity to highlight its strong sense of responsibility on environmental and social issues, since this is at the core of both its mission and its corporate vision. As the theme of WED 2017 is "connect with nature", the Group decided to take an active part with a view to strengthening two fundamental aspects of its work: internal communication, related to the involvement of the entire staff and the sharing of corporate values, and corporate reputation, related to the group’s distinctive ethical approach.
- Corporate Reputation:
our innovative start up ECO2ZONE has decided to give continuing active support to the Italian environmental and cultural heritage by joining the Italian Environment Fund (FAI) in its Corporate Golden Donor programme.
- Internal Communication:
– a photographic competition on a theme recalling the official WED theme "Connect with nature"
– a staff football tournament on a playing field surrounded by green space in our home town of Nova Milanese
